With a history spanning 20 years, the Mercosur Biennial offers culture and art to thousands of people at no charge. In 2018, Grupo Oleoplan is supporting this project through sponsorship. The 11 th Mercosur Biennial runs from April 6 to June 3 and is expected to attract some 500,000 people.

In the state capital, works can be viewed at the Rio Grande do Sul Museum of Art (MARGS, in English), at the Rio Grande do Sul Memorial, at Santander Cultural, at the Nossa Senhora das Dores Church, at Alfândega Square and at the Quilombola Community of Areal. In the state’s interior, in the city of Pelotas, visitors can enjoy the agenda offered at Casa 6.

In all, there are around 160 pieces covering all forms of art, including photography, painting, engravings, sketches and audio installations that touch on the topic of the Atlantic Triangle. At this edition, the exhibit takes the ocean as its inspiration, forming a stage of interaction between the American continents, Europe and Africa for over 50 years and fundamental in the formation of Brazilian culture. As such, the exhibit will feature the works of over 70 artists from these 3 continents.
